The Asia Cup 2025 has been confirmed and will take place in the UAE from September 9 to September 28

The 2025 edition of the Asia Cup will be held in the United Arab Emirates from September 9 to 28, the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) announced on Saturday. The tournament will feature eight teams, including India and Pakistan.

It’s official the Asia Cup 2025 is happening. After months of delays and uncertainty, all issues have now been cleared, and the tournament will take place in the United Arab Emirates from September 9 to 28. The news was confirmed by Mohsin Naqvi, president of both the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), in a social media post on July 26. He shared that the tournament will feature top-level cricket and promised more details soon.
A key highlight of the tournament is India and Pakistan being placed in the same group (Group A), which means fans could see the two rivals face off up to three times once in the group stage on September 14, then again in the Super 4s on September 21 if both qualify, and possibly a third time in the final on September 28.
The ACC’s recent meeting in Dhaka had stirred some political tension between Pakistan and Bangladesh, but cricket officials have moved forward smoothly. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), the tournament’s official host, needed extra time to settle commercial arrangements with partners before making the final announcement.
One major hurdle was getting approval from the Indian government, especially given recent strained relations between India and Pakistan following a military operation earlier this year. However, the current government seems open to sports-related engagements with Pakistan at least for tournaments like the Asia Cup. India’s Sports Minister recently suggested that participation in multi-nation events was not a problem, even though bilateral matches may remain off the table. With India aiming to host the 2036 Olympics, this flexible approach makes sense.
The full match schedule was released on Saturday. Eight teams will compete in 19 matches across two groups, with the final match falling on Sunday, September 28. While the ACC hasn’t confirmed the venues, Dubai and Abu Dhabi are expected to host the games.
