Washington Sundar To Be Playing In Remaining New Zealand Tests
The all-rounder will join the squad on the back of a terrific knock against Delhi in the Ranji trophy.
For the second and third tests against New Zealand that are going to be held in Pune and Mumbai respectively spin-bowling all-rounder Washinton Sunder has been added to the squad. Sundar has already four test matches for India, all in 2021 and including of iconic victory at the Gabba in Brisbane, which was also his debut match in test match format.
India squad for 2nd and 3rd Test: Jasprit Bumrah (VC), Rohit Sharma (C), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Virat Kohli, Shubman Gill, KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant (WK), Sarfaraz Khan, Dhruv Jurel (WK), Ravichandran Ashwin, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohd. Siraj, Akash Deep, Ravindra Jadeja, Washington Sundar.
BCCI made this announcement after Sundar scored an incredible 152 runs against Delhi as he batted at No.3 in the Ranji Trophy fixture in the national capital. Now he is going to join the Indian Team for the second test match going to be held in Pune which is starting from October 24.
With Sundar in the team, India will have five spin bowlers to choose from, including R Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, and Axar Patel. Sundar's skills as an all-rounder also provide extra support in batting, which could be useful, especially since India was embarrassingly bowled out for just 46 runs in the first innings of a rare home defeat against New Zealand in Bengaluru during the series opener.
