Shakib Al Hasan passes test for his bowling action
Former Bangladesh skipper Shakib Al Hasan has been cleared of suspect bowling action, allowing him to resume his left-arm spin.
Bangladesh's experienced all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan, 37, has finally been cleared of a suspected illegal bowling action after facing months of challenges. He had previously failed the tests twice, but the latest results confirm that he has resolved the issues with his bowling action.
This news brings great relief to Shakib, who was left out of Bangladesh's Champions Trophy squad because the selectors didn't want to include him only as a batter. Since he was suspended from bowling, he missed out on participating in the ICC event, which he had hoped to make his farewell tournament in international cricket.
The saying "third time's a charm" proved true for Shakib, as he passed his most recent bowling action test in England. He confirmed the positive news to Cricbuzz, expressing his happiness by saying, "The news is correct, and I am cleared to bowl again."
The scrutiny on Shakib's bowling action began during a County Championship match for Surrey against Somerset in September 2024. Following this, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) suspended him after an independent evaluation found his action illegal.
Shakib then underwent two separate reassessments in England and India but failed both tests, leading to a suspension from bowling. Now, after much effort, he has overcome this obstacle and can resume bowling.
