Rain Halts Play on Day Three in Kanpur Test

Rain Halts Play on Day Three in Kanpur Test

Saturday's and Sunday's play at Green Park washed out due to rain, the Kanpur Test is only 35 overs old two days into the contest between India and Bangladesh.

Heavy rain and a wet field stopped all cricket on the third day of the second Test between India and Bangladesh in Kanpur. The bad weather and soggy ground led to the day’s play being cancelled by 2:00 PM local time. This is the first time a full day’s play has been washed out in India since the 2015 Test in Bengaluru.
"Today’s events in Kanpur were expected due to the weather forecast for the first three days. Only 35 overs were possible on the first day, with Bangladesh struggling in tough conditions on a tricky pitch.
Indian captain Rohit Sharma chose to bowl because of the cloudy weather and potential moisture on the pitch, which initially helped with some movement. However, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj weren’t at their best, and it was Akash Deep’s two wickets that provided some relief for the hosts. For Bangladesh, Mominul Haque and Najmul Shanto built a solid partnership until Ravichandran Ashwin dismissed Shanto."
The 35 overs played Day 1 hinted at an exciting Day 2. Sadly, the bad weather that cut short the first day ended up wiping out the entire second and third day as well.

Bangladesh 107 for 3 (Mominul 40*, Shanto 31, Akash Deep 2-34) vs India
