Nitish Kumar Reddy will miss the England tour because of a knee injury
India vs England: Nitish Kumar Reddy was ruled out of the remainder of the five-match Test series owing to a left knee injury and will fly back home. Arshdeep Singh is also sidelined for the fourth Test against England with a thumb injury sustained during practice.
Indian all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy will miss the rest of the England tour after hurting his knee during a gym session. Scans showed damage to his ligaments, making him unavailable for the upcoming fourth Test in Manchester on July 23.
This is another setback for India, as fast bowlers Akash Deep and Arshdeep Singh are also dealing with injuries and may not play. In response, Anshul Kamboj has been brought into the squad as a pace-bowling replacement.
India is also managing the workload of Jasprit Bumrah, who is expected to play only three out of the five Tests. He played in the first and third matches and could return for the fourth, especially with the team getting an eight-day break.
Reddy missed the first Test, played in the second and third, and stood out at Lord’s by taking key wickets and making decent runs. Although he didn’t do much in the Birmingham Test, he was in the running to play at Old Trafford.
India has used a pace-bowling allrounder in every match so far. Shardul Thakur played the first, and Reddy took his spot in the second and third. If India sticks to the same strategy, Thakur may return for the fourth Test.
England currently leads the five-match series 2-1
