Kohli Takes Second Place on the IPL 2025 Orange Cap List
IPL 2025: Orange and Purple Cap standings: Sai Sudharsan and Prasidh Krishna are now leading for the caps
After the match between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, there were significant changes in the batting and bowling rankings for IPL 2025. Here’s an overview of the current standings.
Orange Cap’s Table
B Sai Sudharshan from Gujarat Titans is still holding the top position by 417 runs after playing 8 games with an average of 57.12 along with a strike rate of 152.18. Whereas Virat Kohli has now been holding the number 2 position, as he has just given a successful half-century and this time he has secured 70 off 42 balls. And now he has 392 runs from all nine innings.
Nicholas Pooran, the No. 3 batsman for Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), started the IPL strong and was the highest run-scorer from Game 7 to Game 39. However, he has recently struggled, dropping to third place with 377 runs from nine innings.
Suryakumar Yadav of Mumbai Indians (MI) has been very consistent this season, scoring 373 runs, but hasn’t had a standout performance. His scores this season are: 29, 48, 27, 67, 28, 40, 26, 68, and 40, showing he hasn’t failed in any match.
Close behind Suryakumar are Jos Buttler from GT and Yashasvi Jaiswal. Both have 356 runs, but Buttler has played one fewer game than Jaiswal. Jaiswal had a rough start to the season, but has improved lately, scoring 75, 51, 74, and 49 in his last four matches.
The Purple Cap Table
Prasidh Krishna, a fast bowler from GT, remains the Purple Cap holder with 16 wickets from eight matches. However, RCB's Josh Hazlewood has now matched him with the same number of wickets. On Thursday night, Hazlewood took 4 wickets for 33 runs, helping to stop RR's chase. He is currently second due to a slightly worse economy rate and average compared to Prasidh.
Following them, there are seven bowlers tied with 12 wickets each. RCB's Krunal Pandya recently joined this group after taking 2 wickets for 31 runs against RR. The other six bowlers in this pack are GT's R Sai Kishore, Mohammed Siraj, Chennai Super Kings' Noor Ahmad, Delhi Capitals' Kuldeep Yadav, MI's Hardik Pandya, and LSG's Shardul Thakur. Among them, Kuldeep has the best economy rate at 6.50, followed closely by Noor at 7.66.
