Kashi Rudras Outplay Lucknow Falcons in a Close Contest
UP T20 League: Kashi Rudras beat Lucknow Falcons by 19 runs. Player of the match: Karan Sharma 77(44)
The Kashi Rudras continued their fine run in the tournament with yet another confident display, defeating the Lucknow Falcons by 19 runs in a high-scoring and entertaining contest. Winning the toss and opting to bat first, the Kashi Rudras made their intentions clear from the beginning. Their captain, Karan Sharma, led from the front with a captain’s knock that set the tone for the innings. He played a superb 71 runs off just 44 deliveries, showing both skill and aggression. His innings included 7 beautiful fours and 3 massive sixes, which kept the scoreboard moving at a fast pace and lifted the team’s spirits.
Karan found good support from Deepak Rana, who scored a valuable 46 runs. The partnership between the two formed the backbone of the innings, frustrating the Lucknow bowlers and ensuring that the Rudras always stayed in control.
Towards the end, Saksham Rai provided the fireworks. In just 14 balls, he smashed 26 runs, giving the finishing touch that pushed the Rudras’ total to an imposing 187 runs. It was the kind of late cameo every team dreams of, as it ensured the Falcons would need something very special to chase down the target.
Chasing 188 runs is never easy, but the Lucknow Falcons began their innings with determination. Samarth Singh gave them the ideal start, playing a classy knock of 47 runs that included some fine boundaries. His aggressive intent made the chase look possible in the early stages.
Priyam Garg added stability with a composed 32 runs, while Mohammad Saif and Kritagya Kumar Singh chipped in with quick cameos that kept the required run rate within reach for a long time. At one point, the Falcons seemed to be building partnerships that could have taken the game deep into the final overs.
However, the Rudras’ bowlers showed great discipline and never allowed the Falcons to get too comfortable. The turning point came when Atal Bihari Rai struck with three vital wickets. His ability to break partnerships at the right time shifted the momentum firmly back towards the Rudras.
Despite the Falcons’ fighting spirit, they fell short in the final overs. Their innings ended at 168 runs, 19 short of the target. While they showed plenty of promise with the bat, the lack of big partnerships in the middle overs cost them the match.
