JioHotstar secures streaming rights for India vs England Test series

India vs England 2025: JioHotstar Bags Digital Rights for the five-test Series, and Sony Retains TV Broadcast Rights for the test matches.

JioHotstar has secured the digital streaming rights for the upcoming India vs. England Test series. We have learned that the popular sports broadcaster has finalised a deal with Sony Entertainment Network (also known as Culver Max Entertainment Private Limited). The five-match Test series kicks off on June 20 in Leeds and will be streamed live on JioHotstar.
For the past month, Sony and JioStar have been negotiating, and it’s believed they reached an agreement within the last 24 hours. Sony will continue to hold the TV broadcasting rights, showing the matches on its Sony Sports Network, while JioHotstar will stream the games online. An official announcement from both companies is expected later today.
The rest of the Test series will be played in Birmingham (from July 2), Lord's (from July 10), Manchester (from July 23), and the Oval (from July 31).
This agreement also covers next year’s white-ball matches in England, where India will play three ODIs and five T20 matches in the summer of 2026. JioHotstar will stream those games as well.
Sony had secured the rights for all England cricket matches in India last year under a deal that runs through 2031. The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) played a big part in helping JioHotstar and Sony come to this agreement.
Later in the day, both JioHotstar and Sony confirmed the partnership, saying it will give fans easy access to the games across all platforms.
Sanjog Gupta, CEO of Sports and Live Experiences at JioStar, said, "This is a great deal for everyone, especially for Indian cricket fans. Our combined digital and TV platforms will ensure everyone gets to enjoy the matches. At JioHotstar, we’ll continue offering fans the best possible experience with our user-friendly and interactive streaming service."
Gaurav Banerjee, MD and CEO of Sony Pictures Networks India, added, "We’re excited to partner with JioStar to bring the India vs. England series to fans! With the reach of Sony’s TV channels and JioStar’s digital platform, this partnership will redefine how cricket is covered. We’re grateful to the ECB for their support."
