IPL match in Dharamsala cancelled due to floodlight failure
IPL 2025: PBKS vs DC Updates: The game between the Punjab Kings and the Delhi Capitals was abandoned after 10.1 overs in the first innings. While official broadcasters said that the game was called off after a “significant technical failure at the HPCA Stadium.
The IPL 2025 match between Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Delhi Capitals (DC) in Dharamsala was called off midway due to a major technical failure at the stadium.
A power outage in the area caused one of the floodlight towers to stop working, making it impossible to continue the match. The BCCI issued a statement, apologising to the fans at the stadium for the inconvenience.
Before the match was halted, PBKS had opted to bat and played 10.1 overs. Openers Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh had put together a century partnership, with Arya scoring 70 off 34 balls before getting dismissed by T Natarajan. Just after his wicket, three floodlight towers went off at 9:29 PM IST, and 11 minutes later, the match was officially called off.
The game had already faced delays due to rain, with the toss happening at 8:15 PM IST instead of the scheduled 7:00 PM, and the match starting at 8:30 PM IST without losing any overs.
As a result of the cancellation, PBKS’ next match against Mumbai Indians (MI) has been moved from Dharamsala to Ahmedabad.
