ICC Test batting rankings: Pant rises to No. 7, Duckett joins the top ten
ICC Test Rankings: Rishabh Pant achieves a career-high seventh position after twin centuries. Ben Duckett also sees a rise. Joe Root remains the top Test batter. Shubman Gill climbs to the 20th spot.
Rishabh Pant has climbed to a career-best 7th place in the ICC Test batting rankings after smashing 134 and 118 in the Headingley Test against England. He’s now only the second wicketkeeper in Test history after Zimbabwe’s Andy Flower to score centuries in both innings of a match.
Despite Pant’s heroics, India couldn’t hold off England, who chased down 371 runs with five wickets to spare. Ben Duckett was the star of that chase, scoring 62 and a blazing 149, earning him the Player-of-the-Match award and a jump to 8th in the rankings, his best yet.
India’s new Test skipper Shubman Gill also impressed with a first-innings century, moving up five spots to 20th, while England’s Ollie Pope rose to 19th after his ton.
At the top of the batting charts, Joe Root remains No. 1, followed by Harry Brook. India’s Yashasvi Jaiswal holds strong at 4th, thanks to his 101 on Day 1.
On the bowling front, Jasprit Bumrah continues to dominate, staying at No. 1 after a five-wicket haul. Kagiso Rabada and Pat Cummins follow in second and third.
Among all-rounders, Ben Stokes moved up to 5th, while Ravindra Jadeja still leads the pack.
