Bosch receives a penalty for Dwarshuis' red card in the second T20I
South Africa vs Australia: South African all-rounder Corbin Bosch faced a penalty for violating the ICC Code of Conduct during the second T20I against Australia for the send-off signal to Ben Dwarshuis. Four demerit points in the space of 24 months lead to a two-match ban in limited-overs cricket.
South African all-rounder Corbin Bosch has received one demerit point for his send-off to Ben Dwarshuis during the second T20I against Australia on Tuesday. After dismissing Dwarshuis in the 17th over, Bosch pointed toward the dugout as the batter walked off. He admitted to the offence and accepted the punishment. This was Bosch’s first disciplinary issue in international cricket, and the match was his 11th appearance for South Africa.
Bosch was found guilty of breaking Article 2.5 of the ICC Code of Conduct, which deals with using words or actions that could upset or provoke a batter after getting out. Despite the incident, Bosch delivered a strong performance, taking 3 wickets for 20 runs in 3 overs, which helped South Africa win by 53 runs and level the series.
South Africa bounced back after a poor batting show in the first T20I. In the second match, Dewald Brevis smashed an unbeaten 125 off just 56 balls, leading the team to a total of 218/7. Bosch and Kwena Maphaka then took three wickets each, bowling out Australia for 165.
The final T20I will be played in Cairns on Saturday, followed by a three-match ODI series.
