Abhishek Sharma Tops the T20I World
Abhishek Sharma has become just the third Indian to climb to the top of the ICC men’s T20 rankings for batters. He is the third Indian to achieve a phenomenal feat in the shortest format of the game.
Abhishek Sharma has climbed to the No. 1 spot in the T20I batting rankings, replacing his Sunrisers Hyderabad teammate Travis Head. Head had held that top position since June last year after overtaking Suryakumar Yadav. But since Head hasn’t played a T20I match since September 2024 and decided to skip Australia’s recent five-match series in the West Indies, he’s dropped down one place. Abhishek's explosive knock of 135 runs off 54 balls in the final match of India’s T20I series against England in February played a key role in his rise. He’s now the third Indian to top the T20I charts joining Virat Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav.
There have been several other big changes in the rankings as well. Josh Inglis climbed to ninth after scoring 172 runs in the West Indies series, finishing as the third-highest run scorer. Shai Hope, despite hitting a century and ending up second on the run charts, remains in tenth place. Tim David had a massive moment, jumping 12 places to 18th after smashing the fastest T20I century by an Australian. Brandon King moved up nine places, while Cameron Green made the most dramatic jump up 64 spots to reach No. 24. In the bowling category, Nathan Ellis climbed nine places to sit jointly at eighth.
On the Test front, England captain Ben Stokes had a strong performance at Old Trafford. His century and five-wicket haul helped him move up to No. 3 on the all-rounders' chart. However, India’s Ravindra Jadeja continues to hold the top position thanks to his consistent form in the current series. Washington Sundar also made a big leap after scoring his maiden Test century in Manchester, rising eight places to joint 13th with a career-best rating of 193 points.
