GBT20 League Final: Kaushambi Dominators Crowned Champions After Thrilling 11-Run Win in the Final
The much-awaited final between Harnandi Gladiators and Kaushambi Dominators’ finale is completed, giving fans a game full of twists, power-hitting, and tense moments. In the end, Kaushambi Dominators held their nerve and lifted the trophy with a thrilling 11-run victory, becoming the champions of this season.
Kaushambi Dominators’ Innings
Batting first, Kaushambi Dominators started steadily but kept losing wickets at intervals. Uvais Ahmed (17 off 15) and Arun Chaprana (14 off 13) gave a brisk start before both fell to Chanderpal Saini, who was brilliant with the new ball.
The innings got stability when Kaif Ahmed (24 off 18) and Sandeep Tomar (47 off 37) joined hands. While Kaif played some stylish shots, Sandeep anchored the innings perfectly, finding boundaries at crucial times. Later, cameos from Akhil (22 off 17) and Manish Sehrawat (9 off 5) lifted the team further.
Extras also played a big role, with Harnandi’s bowlers gifting away 23 runs, which proved costly in the end. Kaushambi finished at 169/6 in 20 overs, setting up a competitive target.
For Gladiators, Chanderpal Saini was the standout, picking 3 wickets for just 23 runs, while Akash Tomar and Ankit Choudhary chipped in with one each.
Harnandi Gladiators’ Chase
Chasing 170, Harnandi Gladiators never really found their rhythm. The top order struggled against disciplined bowling. Both openers, Ankur Kaushik (16 off 16) and Naman Sharma (12 off 14), fell cheaply to Ramesh Prasad, while Akash Tomar (12 off 23) and Rahul Dagar (5 off 8) couldn’t make an impact either.
At 45/4, the chase looked almost out of reach. But then came Ankit Choudhary and Dinesh Kumar, who completely changed the momentum with some breathtaking hitting. Ankit Choudhary smashed 49 runs off just 20 balls, with 5 fours and 4 sixes. Dinesh Kumar blasted 37 off 18 balls, striking at over 200.
Their counter-attack gave the Gladiators real hope and brought the required rate down. But just when they seemed set to snatch the game, quick wickets from Akhil (2/4) and Pradeep Parashar (3/32) turned the tide again. Despite Ankit’s heroics, the lower order couldn’t carry the chase further, and Gladiators fell short, finishing on 158/9 in 20 overs.
Kaushambi Dominators’ bowlers showed nerves of steel, especially Ramesh Prasad (2/10 in 3 overs) and Pradeep Parashar (3/32), who applied pressure at key moments. Manish Sehrawat’s tight spell also played its part.
In the end, the 23 extras given away by the Gladiators and the failure of their top order proved costly, as they lost by just 11 runs.
