UP Timber Cruises Into Semi-Finals with Dominant 8-Wicket Win Over Sound Image
LHNB T20 Trophy: UP Timber vs Sound Image. Player of the Match: Karan Singh
In a tense quarter-final match, UP Timber showcased a strong performance, winning by 8 wickets against Sound Image and securing their spot in the semi-finals. Sound Image batted first but had trouble forming partnerships, finishing with a total of 131 runs in their 20 overs, which was competitive but a bit disappointing. The top-order batsmen fought hard, with Akash Singh scoring 28 off 31 balls and Almas Shaukat adding another 28 off 23 balls, both putting up some resistance. Shudhanhu Chaurasiya scored 25, while Samst Mitra Shastri remained not out with 30 runs off 22 balls, attempting to boost the score in the end. However, the middle-order did not provide enough support to help them go past 140 runs. The UP Timber bowlers performed well, with Hasan Akhtar, Navneet Kumar, Atif Sajid, and Anubhav Srivastava each taking 2 wickets, effectively breaking down the Sound Image batting team.
Chasing 132, UP Timber's reply was calm, calculated, and anchored by strong performances from the top and middle order. Despite losing Prateek Singh early for 17 and Rijul Patel for 5, the batting duo of Karan Singh and Sanket Maurya seized control of the match with a match-winning partnership. Karan Singh remained unbeaten on 60 off 47 balls, laced with 4 fours and 2 sixes, leading from the front. He was well-supported by Sanket Maurya, who played a composed knock of 47 not out off 39 balls, hitting six boundaries and ensuring there were no hiccups in the chase. Together, they stitched a commanding partnership that brought UP Timber home comfortably with 2.2 overs to spare.
Despite the loss, Sound Image’s bowling effort had its moments, with Ali Murtaza and Shivam Yadav picking up a wicket each, but the lack of breakthroughs and rising run rate made it difficult to contain UP Timber's batting lineup. With this confident win, UP Timber marches into the semi-finals, showcasing both bowling depth and batting composure, marking them as serious contenders for the title.
