Tilak Varma Shines as India Beat Pakistan to Lift Asia Cup 2025

Asia Cup: India Vs Pakistan: India defeated Pakistan by 5 wickets in a thrilling Asia Cup 2025 final, chasing down 147 with two balls left. Tilak Varma’s unbeaten 69 guided India home and sealed the title.

The Asia Cup 2025 final in Dubai gave fans a night to remember. A packed stadium witnessed yet another India vs Pakistan classic, filled with drama, nerves, and moments of brilliance. Pakistan, after winning key moments early in the game, set up a fighting total of 146, but it was India’s young hero Tilak Varma who stole the spotlight. With a calm and mature innings under pressure, he guided India to a 5-wicket win with two balls to spare, securing the trophy in style.
Pakistan’s Innings
Pakistan started strongly with their openers leading the charge. Sahibzada Farhan looked in top touch, scoring a fluent 57 off 38 balls, cracking 5 fours and 3 sixes. He was well supported by Fakhar Zaman, who added a solid 46 from 35 balls, mixing caution with clean hitting. Their partnership gave Pakistan early hope, and at one stage, they looked on course for a big score.
However, once the spinners came into play, the innings collapsed. Kuldeep Yadav spun magic, taking 4 wickets for 30 runs, breaking Pakistan’s backbone in the middle order. Varun Chakaravarthy and Axar Patel also chipped in with 2 wickets each, while Jasprit Bumrah struck at the death with his sharp yorkers. From 84/1 in under 10 overs, Pakistan tumbled to 146 all out in 19.1 overs, losing their last 9 wickets for just 62 runs. It was a dramatic collapse that gave India the upper hand as it went into the chase.
India’s Innings
India’s chase of 147 was far from easy. The Pakistani pacers, led by Faheem Ashraf, struck early to remove Abhishek Sharma (5) and Shubman Gill (12). When captain Suryakumar Yadav fell for just 1, the pressure on India grew, and the final looked wide open.
That’s when Tilak Varma stepped in and showed nerves of steel. He anchored the innings beautifully, refusing to let the scoreboard freeze. With Sanju Samson adding 24 runs in a handy partnership and later Shivam Dube blasting 33 from 22 balls, India clawed their way back into the game. Tilak stayed unbeaten till the end, scoring a match-winning 69 off 53 balls, decorated with 4 sixes and 3 fours.
Rinku Singh provided the finishing touch, smashing the winning boundary with his very first ball, as India reached 150/5 in 19.4 overs. The celebrations erupted immediately—India were Asia Cup champions once again.
