Suryakumar Yadav and Shivam Dube will be available for Mumbai in the SMAT 2025-26 season
SMAT 2025: Mumbai chief selector Sanjay Patil had confirmed that both Suryakumar and Shivam Dube will be available for SMAT.
Mumbai received a big boost ahead of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, starting next week, as Suryakumar Yadav and Shivam Dube have confirmed their availability. Neither player was part of Mumbai’s title-winning campaign last season, but this time they will join the squad.
Mumbai chief selector Sanjay Patil confirmed the news, saying he had spoken to Suryakumar, who assured him he would be available for the entire tournament. Shivam Dube, too, has given the same commitment. The team will be picked on Friday.
There has been talk that Suryakumar could captain Mumbai’s T20 side, but selector Raju Patil said no decision has been made yet. In the Ranji Trophy, Shardul Thakur has led Mumbai successfully, with the team currently topping Group D.
Although both Suryakumar and Dube will travel with the squad to Lucknow, they may not play all group matches because India’s T20I series against South Africa begins on December 9. The selectors will decide the final plan after discussions.
Patil also clarified that there are no current plans to promote Sarfaraz Khan as an opener in the T20 team. The management will take a call after assessing conditions in Lucknow.
Mumbai will start its campaign against the Railways on November 26.
