South Africa Women Thrash Pakistan by 150 Runs (DLS Method)

Women's ODI World Cup: South Africa Vs Pakistan: South Africa Women defeated Pakistan by 150 runs in a rain-hit match. The hosts posted a huge 312/9 in 40 overs, and Pakistan could only reach 83/7 while chasing a DLS target of 234 in 20 overs.

The match between South Africa and Pakistan turned one-sided after rain shortened the game. South Africa played brilliantly with both bat and ball. Their batters set up a massive total, and the bowlers easily defended it to seal a comfortable victory.

South Africa’s Innings:

South Africa put on a brilliant batting display to post a massive 312 runs in their 40 overs. Skipper Laura Wolvaardt was in good form, leading from the front with a classy 90 off 82 balls, packed with 10 fours and two sixes. Her timing and placement were exceptional, and she set the tone early despite losing her opening partner Tazmin Brits cheaply for 0.

After a steady start, Sune Luus joined Wolvaardt and played fluently for 61 off 59 balls, adding valuable runs in the middle overs. Once Luus and Wolvaardt fell, Marizanne Kapp took charge and smashed the bowlers all around the park. Her quick-fire 68 not out off 43 balls included four fours and three sixes, giving South Africa’s total a big boost in the final overs.

Pakistan’s bowlers found it hard to contain the flow of runs. Nashra Sandhu was the pick of the bowlers with 3 wickets for 45, while Sadia Iqbal also claimed three but was expensive. Despite some good moments in the field, Pakistan struggled to stop South Africa’s aggressive batting, allowing them to reach a formidable 312 for 9 in 40 overs.

Pakistan’s Innings

Chasing a revised DLS target of 234 runs in 20 overs due to rain, Pakistan never really found any rhythm and were completely dominated by South Africa’s bowlers. The innings got off to a shaky start as Muneeba Ali fell early to Ayabonga Khaka, and wickets kept tumbling at regular intervals.

The experienced Marizanne Kapp continued her all-round brilliance, taking 3 for 20, while Shangase also picked up two wickets to tighten the screws. Only Sidra Nawaz (22 not out) and Natalia Pervaiz (20) managed to put up some resistance, but it was far from enough. The rest of the batting lineup struggled to score freely against the disciplined bowling attack.

In the end, Pakistan could only manage 83 for 7 in 20 overs, falling well short of the target. It was a complete team performance from South Africa — dominant with both bat and ball — sealing a crushing 150-run win (DLS method).

Brief Scores:

South Africa Women: 312/9 (40 overs) – Laura Wolvaardt 90, Marizanne Kapp 68*, Sune Luus 61; Nashra Sandhu 3/50, Sadia Iqbal 3/63
