SMAT SUPER SUNDAY: Record Chase and Century Heroes
Today was defined by record-breaking chases and centuries in the SMAT Super League. The highlight was Mumbai's incredible pursuit of 235 runs against Haryana, the second-highest successful T20 chase in tournament history, powered by a spectacular century from Yashasvi Jaiswal and a blazing fifty from Sarfaraz Khan
Andhra pulled off another massive chase of 205 against Punjab, thanks to a match-winning century from M. Hemanth Reddy in a final-ball thriller. Meanwhile, Hyderabad comfortably secured its win against Rajasthan with dominant half-centuries from Tanmay Agarwal and Rahul Buddhi, confirming the day as one of the highest-scoring and most exciting of the tournament.
1. Mumbai vs Haryana
Mumbai beat Haryana by 4 wickets (with 2.3 overs remaining)
This was a match for the history books! Haryana set a daunting target of 235 runs after Captain Ankit Kumar blasted 89 runs (42 balls) and Nishant Sindhu scored 63 not out. However, Mumbai made a mockery of the chase. Opener Yashasvi Jaiswal smashed a brilliant 101 off 50 balls, and Sarfaraz Khan provided explosive support with 64 off just 25 balls. They completed the chase in just 17.3 overs, achieving the second-highest successful run chase in the history of the tournament.
2. Andhra vs Punjab
Andhra beat Punjab by 5 wickets (with 1 ball remaining)
Another massive chase in Pune! Punjab set a huge score of 205/5, featuring contributions from Anmolpreet Singh (47) and Ramandeep Singh (43). Andhra's reply was anchored by a spectacular century from M. Hemanth Reddy, who hammered 109 runs off 53 balls. His partnership with SDNV Prasad (53 off 35) ensured Andhra stayed ahead of the curve, clinching a thrilling 5-wicket victory on the second-to-last ball of the match and handing Punjab a big defeat.
3. Hyderabad vs Rajasthan
Hyderabad won by 6 wickets (with 17 balls remaining)
Hyderabad continued their strong Super League form with a dominant chase. Rajasthan set a fighting total of 178/9, thanks mainly to Mahipal Lomror's 48. However, the target proved insufficient against the in-form Hyderabad batting lineup. Half-centuries from Tanmay Agarwal (73) and Rahul Buddhi (55) made light work of the chase, as Hyderabad secured the victory comfortably with 17 balls to spare.
