Shami added to Bengal's Vijay Hazare Trophy squad
Mohammed Shami has not played since the ODI World Cup final last year.
For the upcoming Vijay Hazare Trophy, Mohammed Shami has been added to the Bengal’s 20-member squad as he proving his fitness for the testes in Australia.
After completing the second test Rohit made a statement and said that there are many more possibilities for Shami to join the Australia squad, but there might be repeated caution over his fitness.
Shami played the last match in the 2023 ODI World Cup where he had ankle surgery. Now he returned to play again in the Ranji Trophy in November and was able to take seven wickets in the match against Madhya Pradesh.
Then he played all nine games for the Bengal in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and took the nine wickets by an economy of 7.85. But at the time of the tournament, he had some leg swelling that might trouble his back to the game.
In addition to Shami, seamer Mukesh Kumar is also part of the Bengal squad, which will be captained by Sudip Kumar Gharami. Mukesh is currently in Australia as one of the reserve fast bowlers.
Bengal will start their campaign against Delhi in Hyderabad on December 21. The team is set to leave Kolkata for Hyderabad on Wednesday.
