Shamar Joseph ruled out of India Test series due to injury
India vs West Indies: West Indies suffered a big blow ahead of the India Test series as Shamar Joseph has been ruled out of the Test series against India, which will begin on October 2. Johann Layne has replaced Shamar in the squad.
Cricket West Indies has announced that fast bowler Shamar Joseph will miss the upcoming two-match Test series against India due to an undisclosed injury. The news was confirmed via a social media post, and in his absence, 22-year-old all-rounder Johann Layne has been named as his replacement in the squad.
Johann Layne, the young all-rounder from Barbados, has shown plenty of promise in his cricket journey so far. He’s played 19 first-class matches, scoring 495 runs in 32 innings, with two fifties to his name. While he’s handy with the bat, it’s his bowling that really makes him stand out. Layne has already picked up 66 wickets at an impressive average of 22.28, including four five-wicket hauls. He’s proven to be a reliable wicket-taker and someone who can lead the bowling attack when the team needs breakthroughs.
Shamar Joseph, who has been a rising star in West Indies cricket, will now be re-evaluated ahead of the Bangladesh white-ball series scheduled to begin on October 18. That series includes three ODIs and three T20Is, and the West Indies management will be hoping Joseph recovers in time to play a key role.
The first Test between India and the West Indies is set to begin on October 2 in Ahmedabad. With Joseph sidelined, Layne’s inclusion adds a fresh dynamic to the West Indies squad, and fans will be eager to see how the young all-rounder performs on Indian soil.
