Rodrigues out for the rest of the Australia ODI series

Rodrigues out for the rest of the Australia ODI series

India Women's cricket team, star batter Jemimah Rodrigues has been ruled out of the ongoing ODI series against Australia due to viral fever, adding to India's worries before the Women's World Cup to start on September 30.

India has been dealt a setback ahead of the Women's ODI World Cup, as middle-order batter Jemimah Rodrigues has been ruled out of the remaining two ODIs against Australia due to viral fever. The BCCI confirmed the news, stating that their medical team is monitoring her recovery closely.

Tejal Hasabnis has been named as Rodrigues’ replacement. Hasabnis, who has played six ODIs so far, brings a modest record with 140 runs and a half-century against Ireland earlier this year. While she adds depth, Jemimah’s absence is a blow to India’s preparations, especially with the World Cup just under two weeks away.

Rodrigues managed only 18 runs in the first ODI at the New PCA Stadium in Chandigarh, where India fell short despite posting 281. Australia chased it down comfortably, taking a 1-0 lead in the three-match series. The second ODI is scheduled for today at the same venue, and India will be looking to bounce back to keep the series alive.

The rest of the Indian squad remains unchanged, with Prema Rawat and Priya Mishra continuing as standby players. With the World Cup looming, every game now doubles as a crucial tune-up and India will hope to find rhythm quickly in Jemimah’s absence.
