Mohit Sharma has announced his retirement from all types of cricket
India fast bowler Mohit Sharma has announced his retirement from all forms of cricket. His career included 34 international matches and more than ten years in the IPL.
Mohit, who is 37 years old, played 26 ODIs and eight T20Is for India. In his farewell message, he thanked his teammates and officials who supported him from his early days in Haryana to the international stage.
“Today with a full heart, I announce my retirement from all forms of cricket,” Mohit wrote on Instagram. He also expressed gratitude to the Haryana Cricket Association and to Anirudh Sir, whose guidance shaped his career.
Mohit made his India debut in 2013. He took 31 wickets in ODIs and six wickets in T20Is, and was part of the 2015 ODI World Cup squad. He became a reliable death-overs bowler for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) under MS Dhoni.
Over the years, Mohit also played for Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings), Delhi Capitals, and Gujarat Titans. In the 2023 IPL season, he was the second-highest wicket-taker for GT, just behind Mohammed Shami.
In total, Mohit featured in the IPL from 2013 to 2025, missing only the 2021 and 2022 seasons. He ended with 134 wickets in 120 matches. He also played 44 first-class games between 2011 and 2018, taking 127 wickets.
His last competitive match came earlier this year when he played for Delhi Capitals against the Punjab Kings. Later, DC released him ahead of the 2026 IPL auction, marking the end of his professional journey.
