Report: India to Field Three Spinners Against Bangladesh, Youngster Left Out
India will play Bangladesh in a two-match series to start their Test cricket season staring from Thursday.
India will play the first match against Bangladesh at the M Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai starting on Thursday. The Indian cricket team, led by Rohit Sharma, is set to play again after a break of over a month. There are still questions about the team's lineup for the game. Head coach Gautam Gambhir and captain Rohit Sharma are likely to choose three spinners: Kuldeep Yadav, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Ravindra Jadeja. This means Axar Patel won't be selected. Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj will be the fast bowlers for the match.
In batting news, Rishabh Pant is set to return to Test cricket after nearly two years. This means Dhruv Jurel, who did well in his debut series against England, will be on the bench.
Rohit Sharma and his team had a thorough training session on Monday at Chepauk, with all 16 squad members participating as they prepare for the first Test against Bangladesh.
After a day off, the Indian cricket team had their third training session since arriving last week. The first Test starts on Thursday.
Virat Kohli was one of the first to practice, along with left-hander Yashasvi Jaiswal. They faced Jasprit Bumrah and local favourite R Ashwin. The next group of batters included captain Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, and Sarfaraz Khan, who joined after playing in the Duleep Trophy. Rohit focused on playing against spinners, considering Bangladesh's slow bowlers.
Ravindra Jadeja, Rishabh Pant, and fast bowler Mohammed Siraj also practised, facing local bowlers and doing a lot of throwdowns.
The practice pitch at the main square provided a good amount of bounce.
India has two more practice sessions planned before the first Test against Bangladesh. Bangladesh comes into this series with high confidence after sweeping their series in Pakistan.
