Ravi Ashwin Took Retirement from International Cricket
The Indian off-spinner announced his retirement with immediate effects after the draw of the third Test against Australia in Brisbane.
From all the International Cricket R Ashwin has announced their retirement. At the time of between India and Australia in Brisbane he took this decision. Adelaide's match was his last match. And on Thursday he will be returning to India.
He attended this press conference with Rohit and said this is gonna be his last day as an international cricketer. He thinks he can play more but he will do in club cricket. And he has made great memories with the captain and other players.
He thanked all of his coaches, teammates, Pujara, Rohit, Virat and other players who caught his balls. He also thanked the Australian team with whom he has enjoyed playing the most.
He is known as India’s second-highest wicket-taker in Test cricket and the first is Anil Kumble. In total, he played around 106 matches for India and took wickets of around 537.
During the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, India played one day-night Test in the first three matches, where Ashwin took one wicket for 53 runs. Before this, Ashwin was part of the Test series against New Zealand, where India suffered a narrow 0-3 defeat. His performance in that series was below par, taking only nine wickets in three matches at an average of 41.2.
Ashwin is not a regular member of India’s Test XI on overseas tours, and the team’s next home series is scheduled for November next year. Before that, India will travel to England in the summer.
In Tests, Ashwin has scored 3,503 runs, including six centuries and 14 half-centuries. He is one of only 11 all-rounders worldwide to achieve the double of 300 wickets and 3,000 runs in Test cricket. Additionally, he shares the record for the most Player of the Series awards in Tests, with 11, alongside Muttiah Muralitharan.
In ODIs, Ashwin has taken 156 wickets in 116 matches, with an average of 33 and an economy rate of 4.93. His best bowling performance is 4/25. With the bat, he has scored 707 runs, including one half-century. In T20Is, Ashwin has 72 wickets in 65 matches, with an impressive economy rate of 6.90 and an average of 23, with a best bowling figure of 4/8.
