Ranji Trophy 2025 - Vidarbha beat Mumbai by 80 runs
Vidarbha made it to a second consecutive Ranji Trophy final as they beat defending champions Mumbai by 80 runs
Harsh Dubey five-for takes Vidarbha into Ranji Trophy final.
Vidarbha took control of the semifinal against Mumbai on the second-last day thanks to Yash Rathod's 151 runs. They extended their lead in the second innings, despite Shams Mulani taking six wickets, with Rathod scoring more than half of their total of 292 runs.
Rathod and Wadkar had stopped the team's collapse on the third day and continued to build on that by adding 70 more runs on the fourth day. Their 158-run partnership for the fifth wicket was the foundation of Vidarbha's innings, which saw collapses before and after. Rathod also added crucial runs with the lower order before being the last batter out, while Mulani and Tanush Kotian kept up the pressure. This left Mumbai with a challenging target of 406 runs to chase in the final innings.
Harsh Dubey took two quick wickets during Mumbai's chase, and then Parth Rekhade dismissed their captain Ajinkya Rahane LBW for 12 runs. Mumbai now needs 323 more runs on the final day to have a chance at defending their title, which they won by defeating Vidarbha last season.
Brief Scores: Vidarbha 383/10 & 292/10 (Yash Rathod 151, Akshay Wadkar 52, Shams Mulani 6-85) beat Mumbai 270/10 & 325/10 (Shardul Thakur 66, Shams Mulani 46, Harsh Dubey 5-127) trail by 80 runs.
