IPL 2026: Rajasthan Royals plan to trade Samson to CSK in exchange for Jadeja and Curran
Rajasthan Royals are likely to trade their captain Sanju Samson for star Chennai Super Kings all-rounders Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran ahead IPL 2026.
In what could be one of the biggest trades in IPL history, the Rajasthan Royals are reportedly set to send their long-time captain and wicketkeeper-batter, Sanju Samson, to the Chennai Super Kings. In return, RR would receive two star all-rounders Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran. While both franchises have spoken to the players involved, no official confirmation has been made yet. The trade will only move forward once all three players give written consent and the IPL governing council approves the deal.
Sanju Samson has been the face of Rajasthan Royals for over a decade, scoring 4027 runs the most by any RR player. He led the team to the IPL final in 2022 and had a standout season in 2024 with 531 runs. However, a side injury ruled him out of the second half of IPL 2025, and RR’s campaign collapsed, finishing ninth. Samson has now asked to be released, prompting RR to explore trade options.
Ravindra Jadeja, on the other hand, has been a pillar of CSK since 2012, playing a key role in three of their five title wins. He’s CSK’s highest wicket-taker with 143 scalps and has played 254 IPL matches fifth-most in the league. Jadeja was retained for INR 18 crore ahead of the 2025 auction and has consistently delivered with both bat and ball. His match-winning knock in the 2023 final and strong performances in 2025 underline his value.
Sam Curran has had a mixed IPL journey. After becoming the most expensive player in 2023 with the Punjab Kings, he returned to CSK in 2025 for INR 2.4 crore. However, he had a quiet season with just 114 runs and one wicket in five games. Still, his all-around potential makes him a valuable asset for RR.
If the trade goes through, it will mark a major shift in team dynamics for both franchises and could reshape their strategies heading into IPL 2026.
