Rain Stops Play: India Wins Series 2-1 as Final Match is Washed Out
India vs Australia 5th T20I: India clinched the five-match T20I series 2-1, as the fifth and final match of the series finished in a no-result due to rain at The Gabba in Brisbane.
The cricket match between India and Australia at the Gabba in Brisbane today had an unfortunate ending, as the rain played spoilsport and forced the game to be called off. This means there was "no result" for the match.
What Happened?
The final match of the five-match T20 series started with Australia winning the toss and choosing to bowl first.
India's opening batsmen, Shubman Gill and Abhishek Sharma, got off to a brilliant start, hitting the ball well and quickly putting up 52 runs without losing any wickets.
However, the weather quickly turned bad. First, there was lightning, which is very dangerous, so the players had to leave the field. Soon after, the heavy rain started pouring down.
After a long wait, with the rain showing no sign of stopping, the officials had to make the tough decision: the match was officially abandoned (called off).
Series Result: India Wins!
Because the final match was washed out and ended with "no result," the score from the previous games stood, and India won the T20 series 2-1!
India won two games, Australia won one, and two games (including today's) had no result due to rain.
It was a disappointing way to end the series for the fans, but the Indian team will be very happy to take home the trophy after a strong performance in the earlier matches!
