Rahmat Shah will miss the third ODI against Bangladesh
Afghanistan batter Rahmat Shah leaves the field in a wheelchair after clutching his left calf during the second ODI against Bangladesh at the Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi on October 12, 2025.
Afghanistan batter Rahmat Shah is expected to miss the third and final ODI against Bangladesh on October 14 in Abu Dhabi after suffering a calf injury during the second match.
Rahmat had retired hurt earlier in the game but returned to bat when Afghanistan lost their ninth wicket. He bravely came out despite the pain, but could only face one ball before collapsing. Team physio Nirmalan Thanabalasingam rushed to help him, and Rahmat was later taken off the field in a wheelchair.
Fans cheered his return, but his stay was brief. A googly from Rishad Hossain struck him in the abdomen, and he went down immediately. The physio confirmed that Rahmat’s injury will keep him out for some time, and he’s unlikely to play the third ODI.
Rahmat recently became the first Afghan player to reach 4,000 ODI runs and had scored a vital half-century in the first match of the series.
