Priyansh Arya and Shreyas Iyer smash centuries to thrash Australia A
India A vs Australia A: Shreyas and Priyansh's quick centuries help India A set a Target of 414 against Australia A. Riyan Parag, Prabhsimran Singh and Ayush Badoni also scored half-centuries, beating the Australian team by 171 runs.
India A kicked off their unofficial ODI series against Australia A with a commanding win in Kanpur, powered by centuries from opener Priyansh Arya and captain Shreyas Iyer. After rain washed out play on Tuesday, the match was shifted to the reserve day, and India A made the most of the opportunity.
Batting first, India A piled up a massive 413 for 6. Arya scored 101 and Iyer smashed 110, marking his return to List A cricket after the Champions Trophy earlier this year. The top six batters all scored at a strike rate above 100, with five of them crossing the 50-run mark. Arya and Prabhsimran Singh, who had impressed together for Punjab Kings in IPL 2025, reunited to put on a 135-run opening stand. Iyer then took charge, hitting 12 fours and four sixes. Riyan Parag (67) and Ayush Badoni (50) added more firepower, and with support from Nishant Sindhu, India A crossed the 400-run mark.
Australia A struggled with the ball, using seven bowlers, but only Liam Scott managed to keep his economy under seven. Chasing 414, they started well and reached 116 for 1 by the 13th over. However, Cooper Connolly’s dismissal triggered a collapse. They lost their last nine wickets for just 126 runs and were bowled out for 242 in 33.1 overs, leaving nearly 17 overs unused.
McKenzie Harvey top-scored for Australia A with 68, while captain Will Sutherland chipped in with a quick 50. India A’s spinners Sindhu, Ravi Bishnoi, and Badoni shared seven wickets between them. Gurjapneet Singh, fast-tracked into the squad, made his List A debut and picked up 1 for 40 in five overs.
India A will be further strengthened by the arrival of Tilak Varma, the Asia Cup hero, for the remaining two matches of the series.
