Priyank Panchal has decided to retire from first-class cricket
Ex-Gujarat captain Priyank Panchal announces retirement from all forms of cricket. He played 127 First-Class games and amassed 8,856 runs at 45.18 with 29 centuries and 34 fifties.
Priyank Panchal has been taking retirement from first-class cricket immediately. In total, he has closed 9000 runs in the format of red-ball and has secured the title of Ranji Trophy in 2016-17 once.
He has been awarded the title of most centuries given by a Gujarat batter in first-class cricket, which includes a 148 runs in his last appearance- that was the Ranji Trophy against Kerala.
In the 2016-17 season, he played a big role in Gujarat winning their first-ever title, scoring over 1300 runs one of the highest individual tallies in tournament history. The year before, he was part of the Vijay Hazare Trophy-winning squad.
Over his career, Panchal played 97 List A matches, scoring eight centuries, and appeared in 59 T20 games, with his last match in October 2023. He represented India A but never got the chance to play international cricket or participate in the IPL.
Announcing his retirement on social media, Panchal shared an emotional message about his father, who inspired him to chase his dream of playing for India. Even though he never got the India cap, he carried that dream for nearly two decades and now steps away from first-class cricket with gratitude.
