Prateek Singh's Steady 65 Anchors a 7-Wicket Victory Over Life Care Cricket Club
LHNB T20 Trophy: Life Care Cricket Club vs UP Timber. Player of the Match: Prateek Singh
In a thrilling day match, UP Timber showcased their strong batting skills and sharp bowling to comfortably defeat Life Care Cricket Club by 7 wickets. The highlight of the match was the unbeaten knock of 65 runs by Prateek Singh, who held the innings together and guided his team to victory with 3 overs to spare.
First Innings – Life Care Cricket Club
Winning the toss and opting to bat first, Life Care Cricket Club began steadily but never quite managed to break free from the disciplined UP Timber bowling unit.
Opening batter Sumit Kumar Sharma played a wonderful knock of 18 runs off 21 balls, before being trapped LBW by Vipraj Nigam, who would go on to be one of the standout bowlers. Arbaaz Ahmad injected early momentum with a brisk 23 off 13 balls, including 2 fours and a six, before falling to Atif Sajid.
However, the top and middle orders struggled to build strong partnerships. Navneet Patel (6) and Gaurav Yadav (0) were both dismissed cheaply, and pressure continued to mount. Akshdeep Nath managed a decent 30 off 27, but it was Shivam Tiwari who stood tall with a powerful unbeaten 57 off 35 balls, hitting 6 boundaries and 3 sixes to provide a much-needed boost to the total.
A late cameo from Gaurav Rawat (11 off 9) and a handful of extras helped Life Care Cricket Club reach a modest 151/6 in their full quota of 20 overs.
Second Innings – UP Timber
Chasing 152 for victory, UP Timber didn’t get start well, losing Rijul Patel early for just 1 run. But any tension was short-lived as Sanket Maurya joined Prateek Singh at the crease and attacked the bowling from the outset. Sanket struck a quick 26 off 15 balls, smashing 6 fours before being caught by Arbaaz Ahmad off Himanshu Yadav.
The big momentum swing came when Karan Singh walked in. He played an aggressive and entertaining innings of 49 runs off just 29 balls, hitting 6 boundaries and 2 sixes. His knock, in partnership with Prateek, completely broke the back of the chase.
Once Karan departed at 136/3 in the 16th over, UP Timber needed just 16 more runs, which Vipraj Nigam calmly helped finish alongside Prateek Singh, who remained unbeaten on 65 runs off 50 balls, playing a mature anchor role throughout the innings.
