Pant comes back to India and meets a doctor in Mumbai
After the July 23, 2025, fourth test match against England, where Pant fractured his right foot, he has now returned to India and will soon head to the Centre of Excellence (CoE) for rehabilitation in Bengaluru, as he has now spent enough time with the consulting specialist.
Now that the details of the assessment are still not disclosed, it looks like Pant (27), one of the best batsmen in all formats, is aiming to return during India's home series against the West Indies in October. If that doesn't work out, the white-ball series against Australia in October-November seems like a good chance for his comeback.
It has been found that Pant has also spent some days with the consulting experts in Mumbai. He landed directly in Mumbai from England and went to the foot injury assessment, which must have been bandaged. Doctors in the city are thought to have provided him with a schedule for going back to the Centre of Excellence for rehab.
On Manchester’s first day of the test session for the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, Chris Woakes' delivery hurt Pant's right foot, which led to some serious injury and forced him to rest for days.
When he got hurt, he had scored 37 runs. The next day, to everyone's surprise, he returned with his foot fully wrapped and managed to score more important runs for the team. During this, Pant, the team's vice-captain, also reached his half-century with a score of 54.
However, it led him to miss the fifth and final test at the Oval. By the way, India won and levelled the series. Pant remained in England after the series ended and is thought to have come back to India just a few days ago. Since his injury, he has been sharing updates about his recovery on his social media accounts.
One of his recent posts said: "I want to share something I've learned: it doesn't matter how much pain you've been through in the past. If you get hurt again, it still hurts the same; it just takes more to break you, and you understand how to keep moving forward. Staying positive is really important, and motivating yourself can make a big difference. Trust yourself and keep working toward the life you want because what doesn't kill you makes you stronger in the end (sic)."
Given the tough challenges he has faced in his career and personal life, it's understandable that Pant would have such profound thoughts. In 2022, he narrowly escaped a serious accident that left him out of action for over a year due to a severe knee injury. Before his recent setback in Manchester, he also dealt with a finger injury during the third Test at Lord’s, which stopped him from keeping wicket.
