Bangladesh and Pakistan had to end their Champions Trophy with a disappointment, scoring one point each, as the second match was washed out in Rawalpindi. Just like on Tuesday, when the
Australia vs South Africa game from Group B was affected, and this match was cancelled before the toss even happened.
Rain fell steadily at the stadium all afternoon, making it impossible to take the covers off the pitch. The match was called off at 3:27 PM local time, just under an hour and a half after it was supposed to start.
This cancellation was Rawalpindi's final game of the tournament. In addition to the two matches that were rained out, the venue also hosted New Zealand's five-wicket victory over Bangladesh on February 24.
Only one game remains in Group A, where India will play against New Zealand in Dubai on March 2. This match will decide who finishes at the top of the group, but both teams have already qualified for the semi-finals. For record-keeping, Bangladesh (-0.443) finished ahead of Pakistan (-1.087) based on net run-rate.
Pakistan's next matches will be a white-ball tour of New Zealand later this month, which includes five T20 matches and three ODIs. Meanwhile, Bangladesh will be hosting Zimbabwe for three ODIs and three T20 matches.
