New Zealand Seal Strong Win Over West Indies in 2nd Test
New Zealand cruised to a comfortable victory against the West Indies in the second Test of their series at the Basin Reserve in Wellington. The Kiwis won by nine wickets, taking a 1–0 lead in the three-match series.
The West Indies struggled with the bat in both innings. They were first dismissed for 205 runs, with only a handful of players making meaningful contributions. New Zealand bowlers, including Blair Tickner and debutant Michael Rae, shared the wickets and kept the visitors under pressure.
In reply, New Zealand scored 278 runs before declaring, thanks to solid half-centuries from Devon Conway and Mitchell Hay, who both reached fifty and helped put their team ahead.
The West Indies then collapsed again in their second innings, making just 128 runs. New Zealand pacer Jacob Duffy was the star, taking five wickets and tearing through the West Indies lineup.
Chasing a small target of 56, New Zealand finished the job easily before tea on the third day. Devon Conway and Kane Williamson guided the side home with calm batting.
Duffy’s strong bowling and the useful batting from New Zealand’s top order were key in giving the hosts their first win in this World Test Championship cycle.
