Nepal and Oman secure spots in 2026 T20 World Cup
ICC T20 World Cup 2026: Oman and Nepal took the 18th and 19th spots in the men's T20 World Cup, slated to be held in India and Sri Lanka in February-March 2026.
Nepal and Oman have officially booked their tickets to the 2026 T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka even before facing each other in the Super Six clash at Al Amerat. Thanks to UAE’s big 77-run win over Samoa, both teams are now out of reach on the points table, sitting pretty at the top with only net run rate separating them.
UAE, currently third, still have a shot at the final qualification spot when they take on Japan on October 16.
Nepal’s charge has been led by wristspinner Sandeep Lamichhane, who’s bagged 10 wickets in just 4 games at a stunning average of 9.40. His 5/18 against Qatar was a match-winner, helping bowl them out for 142 in a tight chase.
For Oman, left-arm pacer Jiten Ramanandi has been a standout. With 7 wickets in 4 games and an economy under 6, he’s also riding high on confidence after dismissing Abhishek Sharma and Tilak Varma in the Asia Cup.
