The evening match of the LHNB T20 Lucknow tournament saw an exciting finish as N E Railways edged past Ashish Nehra Cricket Club by 2 wickets in a nail-biting final over. Both teams displayed competitive cricket, but it was N E Railways who held their nerve in the end, successfully chasing the target of 128 runs with just one ball to spare.
First Innings – Ashish Nehra Cricket Club Set a Target of 127
Ashish Nehra Cricket Club started well with Abhay Pratap Singh (15) and Vinayak Singh (11) giving a steady opening. Shibhanker Shukla was the top scorer, playing a patient knock of 27 off 31 balls, supported by Harsh Vardhan Pratap (24 off 23) and Akash Yadav (18 off 14) in the middle overs. However, they lost momentum in the death overs, thanks to an excellent bowling performance from Trishal Trivedi, who took 4 wickets for just 7 runs in his 4 overs. Saved Malik also chipped in with 3 key wickets, helping restrict Ashish Nehra Cricket Club to 127/10 in their 20 overs.
Second Innings – N E Railways Sneak Home in a Tight Chase
In reply, N E Railways had a shaky start, losing wickets early, but the middle order kept them in the game. Ankit Yadav scored a handy 22 off 18 balls, while Aakash Verma added 26 off 23, building momentum. Towards the end, Ashwani Mandhyani (24)* played a crucial unbeaten knock under pressure, guiding his team closer to the target. With 2 wickets in hand and just one ball remaining, Shivam Dixit (9)* joined in to complete the chase. For Ashish Nehra Cricket Club, Aman Raj was the pick of the bowlers with 3 wickets, while Aditya Yadav and Aniket Singh took 2 each, but it wasn’t enough to stop N E Railways from reaching 128/8 in 19.5 overs.
