Lord's Test against West Indies to be James Anderson's last
James Anderson will play his career last test match in Lord's against Wes indies test match.
Finally, James Anderson is over his international cricket career after England’s first Test match against the West Indies, this summer at the Lord’s. The Fabled career of a great personality will end after a long career journey of 21 years.
James Anderson, turning 42 in July, debuted his legendary test career at Lord’s in 2003 against Zimbabwe. He has surpassed the record of the 700- most wickets taken by any pace bowler in Test Cricket. His final total of 188 caps will be the second-highest in Test history, just behind Sachin Tendulkar who has 200 caps.
James Anderson released a personal statement on his Instagram, stating He would be representing the Country’s team for one last time. Even, he speaks later in the Podcast of BBC’s Tailenders, where he states he didn't rule out the possibility of playing for them with the county.
Anderson had earlier said that he wanted to be part of England's six Tests this summer against West Indies and Sri Lanka and even did not rule out being around for the 2025-26 Ashes, by which time he would be 43.
On the other hand, he met the head coach of the Test, Brendon McCullum, for face-to-face talks at the golf course and had further conversations with the Managing director Rob Key in April, during which he was told they were looking beyond him this summer with the view of touring Australia in the future.
The fact that the news about that meeting was originally published by The Guardian on Friday at last turned into the confirmation from Anderson also on Saturday. He was due to be part of the BBC's live coverage of England Women's first match of the summer against Pakistan at Edgbaston on Saturday but has now pulled out.
Anderson stated to Tailenders that his talks with McCullum came up as one of the matters discussed during the annual appraisal, and at that point, he had been at the deal for 6 months.
