IPL Auction 2026: Teams and How Much Money is Left!

IPL Auction 2026: Teams and How Much Money is Left!

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 is building excitement as teams prepare for the new season after the recent Mini-Auction. Each of the ten franchises has a certain amount of money left.

In the auction, each team has their final list of players and some money left over. This leftover money is known as the "Purse Remaining." Teams can use this money later to sign replacement players if anyone gets hurt.

Here is a simple look at how the 10 teams stand right now, with their current squads and the money they have left:

Teams with the Biggest Money Bags (Highest Purse Remaining)

These teams have lots of money left to chase big players or fill many spots:

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR):

Purse Remaining: ₹ 64.30 Crore (The highest amount!)

Slots Left to Fill: 13 total slots, including 6 overseas players.

The Strategy: KKR is expected to be the most aggressive shopper at the auction, looking to build a new core team after releasing several big names.

Chennai Super Kings (CSK):

Purse Remaining: ₹ 43.40 Crore

Slots Left to Fill: 9 total slots, including 4 overseas players.

The Strategy: CSK has enough money to buy high-quality players to fill gaps, especially after some key players were traded or released.

Teams with Medium Funds

These teams have a good amount of money to buy a few key players to complete their squad:

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH):

Purse Remaining: ₹ 25.50 Crore

Slots Left to Fill: 10 total slots, including 2 overseas players.

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG):

Purse Remaining: ₹ 22.95 Crore

Slots Left to Fill: 6 total slots, including 4 overseas players.

Delhi Capitals (DC):

Purse Remaining: ₹ 21.80 Crore

Slots Left to Fill: 8 total slots, including 5 overseas players.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB):

Purse Remaining: ₹ 16.40 Crore

Slots Left to Fill: 8 total slots, including 2 overseas players.

Rajasthan Royals (RR):

Purse Remaining: ₹ 16.05 Crore

Slots Left to Fill: 9 total slots, including 1 overseas player.

Teams with Less Money Left (Tightest Purse)

These teams have kept most of their main players and have very little money left, meaning they will only buy a few low-cost players:

Gujarat Titans (GT):

Purse Remaining: ₹ 12.90 Crore

Slots Left to Fill: 5 total slots, including 4 overseas players.

Punjab Kings (PBKS):

Purse Remaining: ₹ 11.50 Crore

Slots Left to Fill: 4 total slots, including 2 overseas players.

Mumbai Indians (MI):

Purse Remaining: ₹ 2.75 Crore (The least amount!)

Slots Left to Fill: 5 total slots, including 1 overseas player.

The Strategy: MI has its main team completely ready and will only look for cheap backups to fill its remaining spots.

Chennai Kings and Gujarat Titans have bought almost all the players they wanted. They have the largest squads (25 players) but the least money left over (around ₹ 1.5 Crores and ₹ 1.1 Crores). This means their core team is ready to go!

On the other hand, Kolkata Knights and Delhi Heroes still have the most money in their bank (₹ 7.5 Crores and ₹ 6.8 Crores). They can be happy that they have a large amount of money in hand for any unexpected expenses or if they need to make a player change during the long season.

The Hyderabad Sunrisers have the smallest squad (20 players). They might look to add a few more players later if needed.

IPL 2026 looks set to be a fantastic season with many new faces and fresh team mixes. Let the games begin.
