KSCA elections postponed to Dec 30 due to a legal dispute
The Karnataka State Cricket Association has postponed its November 30 elections after confusion over candidate eligibility led to a court case. The Election Officer has shifted the polls to December 30 and asked candidates to resolve all legal disputes before voting.
KSCA polls moved from Nov 30 to Dec 30
The Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) has postponed its elections due to ongoing confusion regarding the eligibility of certain candidates. Former Indian fast bowler Venkatesh Prasad expressed his displeasure over the decision, stating that politics should not be involved in the matter.
The KSCA deferred the election of its new office-bearers following a dispute over candidate eligibility. The elections were originally scheduled for November 30, but they have now been pushed to December 30. Because of uncertainty over who should be considered qualified for key positions within the association, the elections will be held later than planned.
Venkatesh Prasad told reporters on Monday, “We felt very bad to learn that the elections have been postponed yet again. The next election might be held before December 30, or the date could be pushed even further. It could even be postponed once more. At this point, we have no definite information.”
Election Officer asks candidates to clear legal issues. ‘We are not here for politics’
He continued, “We are not here to play politics. Our only aim is to bring cricket back to the Chinnaswamy Stadium. We want international matches and IPL games to return to Chinnaswamy. We have heard that the Bengaluru team may have to play some of its matches outside the city. If we want to revive cricket here, holding the elections is essential. This is a basic and necessary step. These elections have already been delayed for more than two months. First they were to be held on September 30, then November 30, and now they’ve been postponed again. It is truly surprising.”
A cricketer has always led KSCA.
The former cricketer added, “A cricketer has always led the KSCA. Roger Binny, Anil Kumble, Ram Prasad, Ashok Anand, and Raghuram Bhat have all served as presidents. But now it seems that by fielding a non-cricketer against a cricketer, this tradition may be at risk.”
After the elections were halted, KSCA member Vinay Mruthyunjaya said, “We weren’t given any clear reason just that some members are confused. I cannot say whether there is a conspiracy or something else, but it is important to find out. We want a bright future for cricket.”
