Virat Kohli’s brilliant series against South Africa has lifted him to No. 2 in the ICC ODI batting rankings, just behind Rohit Sharma.
Kohli jumped two spots after scoring 302 runs at an average of 151 in the three-match series. His run tally included two centuries in the first two games and an unbeaten 65 in the third, helping India win the series 2-1.
Rohit Sharma kept his place at the top. He scored 146 runs with two fifties at an average of 48.67. Rohit now has 781 rating points, while Kohli is close behind with 773 points.
India had more good news in the rankings. KL Rahul, who captained the side, moved up two places to No. 12 among batters after scoring 60 and 66* in the first two ODIs. Kuldeep Yadav, who took nine wickets the most in the series climbed three spots to No. 3 among bowlers.
South Africa’s Dewald Brevis entered the top 10 in T20I batting rankings, rising three places to No. 8 after his 22 runs in the first game against India.
Australia’s fast bowler Mitchell Starc also made gains. With back-to-back Player-of-the-Match awards in the Ashes against England, he rose three places to No. 3 among Test bowlers. He now has 852 rating points, his career-best, after taking 18 wickets at an average of 14 in the series.
In Tests, Joe Root continues to lead the batting charts after scoring 138* in Brisbane his first century in Australia. Kane Williamson and Steven Smith both moved up one place each. Williamson scored 52 in the first Test against West Indies, while Smith has made 103 runs at an average of 51.50 in the Ashes, with a top score of 61.
