New Zealand vs West Indies: Cricket West Indies (CWI) announced the 15-player lineup for the away Test series against New Zealand, which is set to take place from December 1 to 21.
West Indies have recalled experienced fast bowler Kemar Roach for their upcoming three-Test series in New Zealand this December. Roach, who last played in January against Pakistan in Multan, brings valuable experience with 85 Tests to his name. His presence will help balance a pace attack that includes Ojay Shields, a 29-year-old making his first call-up.
The squad is missing Shamar Joseph and Alzarri Joseph, both ruled out due to injuries. Alongside Roach, Kavem Hodge has also been recalled, while Khary Pierre has been dropped.
West Indies’ Director of Cricket, Miles Bascombe, said New Zealand is one of the toughest places to tour, with pace-friendly conditions. To prepare, Roach, Shields, and others attended a two-week high-performance camp in Antigua before flying to New Zealand. They will join the rest of the squad already there for the ODI series and play a two-day warm-up match in Christchurch starting November 20.
This series is part of the World Test Championship (WTC). West Indies are currently at the bottom of the table, having lost all five Tests they’ve played in this cycle. For New Zealand, this will be their first WTC series of the cycle
