Jaiswal will keep playing for Mumbai in domestic cricket
Indian Test team opener batter Yashasvi Jaiswal is eligible to play for Mumbai after the Apex Council approves the withdrawal of NOC to play domestic cricket.
Yashasvi Jaiswal will remain with Mumbai for the 2025–26 domestic cricket season after deciding to stay, withdrawing his earlier request to move to Goa. The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) confirmed they accepted his request to cancel the no-objection certificate (NOC), allowing him to continue representing Mumbai.
“Yashasvi has always been a proud product of Mumbai cricket,” said MCA president Ajinkya Naik in a press release, adding that the association welcomed his return for the upcoming season.
Back in April, Jaiswal had applied for an NOC to switch to Goa a move the MCA found unexpected. However, just a month later, he informed the board that his earlier plan to relocate with his family had changed and that he wanted to stay loyal to Mumbai cricket.
The 23-year-old has deep roots in Mumbai’s domestic setup, dating back to his Under-19 days. Since making his first-class debut in 2019, he has played ten matches for Mumbai, scoring 863 runs at an impressive average of 53.93. His record includes four centuries and two fifties, with a top score of 181 against Uttar Pradesh in 2022.
He also featured in the recent domestic season, playing in a Ranji Trophy match against Jammu and Kashmir a game Mumbai lost at home. Unfortunately, he missed the semi-final against Vidarbha due to a right ankle injury he picked up during training.
Currently, Jaiswal is with the Indian Test squad in England. He made a strong start to the series with a century in the opening match at Leeds, though it wasn’t enough to prevent a five-wicket defeat for India
