Jaiswal’s Brilliant Century Leads India to a Dominant 9-Wicket Victory
India produced a complete and confident performance to defeat South Africa by nine wickets in the third ODI. A strong bowling display restricted South Africa to a chaseable total, and the Indian top order finished the job with ease. The match had one clear theme India were in control from start to finish.
South Africa’s Innings
South Africa batted first and reached 270, but most of their runs came from Quinton de Kock, who played a brilliant innings of 106 from 89 balls. He looked fluent from the beginning, timing the ball beautifully and keeping the scoreboard moving. Captain Temba Bavuma supported him with a steady 48, and Matthew Breetzke contributed 24.
Dewald Brevis added 29, but apart from these few partnerships, South Africa struggled to keep their innings together. Wickets kept falling at regular intervals, especially in the middle overs, which stopped them from building a big total. The Indian bowlers did an excellent job of not letting the batting side settle. Prasidh Krishna was the standout performer with four wickets, using his pace and bounce effectively. Kuldeep Yadav was equally impressive, also taking four wickets with his sharp spin and variations. Arshdeep Singh and Ravindra Jadeja chipped in with one wicket each, helping India bowl out South Africa in the 48th over.
India’s Innings
India's chase was smooth and confident right from the start. Yashasvi Jaiswal played one of his most mature ODI innings, finishing unbeaten on 116 from 121 balls. He paced his knock perfectly, rotating the strike, punishing loose balls, and keeping complete control of the chase. Rohit Sharma gave India a flying start with a stylish 75 from 73 balls, hitting boundaries with ease and keeping the pressure on South Africa’s bowlers.
Their opening partnership set the foundation for a comfortable victory. After Rohit’s dismissal at 155, Virat Kohli joined Jaiswal and continued the momentum. Kohli looked in excellent touch, scoring a quick and fluent 65 not out from just 45 balls, including some classic drives and confident strokes. Together, Jaiswal and Kohli ensured that India crossed the target in just 39.5 overs.
With this commanding win, India showed their strength in both departments, disciplined bowling and fearless batting. It was a performance full of confidence, control, and teamwork, wrapping up the match long before the final overs were needed.
