Good news for the IPL fans: The match will resume on 17 May, as the revised schedule was released by the BCCI on Monday.
Due to cross-border tensions between India and Pakistan, the IPL was suspended on May 9 and has now decided to play mainly in six destinations that include mainly Jaipur, Lucknow, Mumbai, Bangalore, Mumbai and Ahmedabad. The locations for the playoffs will be revealed later, but the matches are scheduled for these dates: Qualifier 1 on May 29, the Eliminator on May 30, Qualifier 2 on June 1, and the final on June 3. After the break, a total of 17 matches will be played, including two double-header days on Sundays.
The updated schedule includes 13 league games and four playoff matches. This means that the match between Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Delhi Capitals (DC), which was cancelled during the first innings on May 8 in Dharamsala, will be replayed on May 24 in Jaipur, the temporary home for PBKS. Two days after that, PBKS will face the Mumbai Indians (MI), a match they were supposed to play in Dharamsala on May 11. The tournament will restart on May 17 with a match between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in Bengaluru.
On the first double-header day, Rajasthan Royals (RR) will play against PBKS in the day match at 3:30 PM IST on May 18, while DC will take on Gujarat Titans (GT) in the evening at 7:30 PM IST. The following Sunday, May 25, will feature GT versus Chennai Super Kings (CSK) during the day in Ahmedabad, and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) will play KKR in Delhi at 7:30 PM IST. The final league game will be between Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and RCB on May 27 in Lucknow.
The revised IPL 2025 schedule has reshuffled venues, affecting PBKS, CSK, and SRH, with PBKS now playing two home matches at neutral venues. The delay has also caused scheduling conflicts with the England-West Indies ODI series and the WTC final, impacting players from multiple teams. Additionally, the India A tour of England may see some IPL players missing early matches. Franchises now face the challenge of reassembling their squads, though GT and MI are in a stronger position to adjust quickly.
