India’s Test Prep: Nitish Reddy’s All-Round Growth & Venue Switch for West Indies Series

India’s Test Prep: Nitish Reddy’s All-Round Growth & Venue Switch for West Indies Series

West Indies vs India: Shubman Gill praises Nitish Kumar Reddy's potential ahead of the India vs West Indies Test at Arun Jaitley Stadium, while also lauding Ravindra Jadeja's all-round impact.

As India prepares for the upcoming two-match Test series against the West Indies, there are some planning and logistical changes taking place behind the scenes. The support staff is focused on developing Nitish Kumar Reddy into a dependable all-rounder. Assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate, who has been watching him closely, believes that Nitish has the right skills especially in bowling to become a strong player in both batting and bowling.

“He’s got the ability to bowl at a good pace and contribute with the bat. We’re not rushing him, but we’re definitely investing in his development,” said ten Doeschate.

Nitish’s inclusion isn’t just about filling a spot it’s part of a long-term vision to build depth in India’s Test squad. His recent performances have shown glimpses of promise, and the team is backing him to grow steadily.

While Sai Sudharsan hasn’t had a standout run recently, the coaching staff remains calm and confident. Ten Doeschate emphasised that there’s no panic regarding Sai’s form. “He’s a quality player. These phases happen, and we’re supporting him fully,” he added.

This shows India’s commitment to nurturing young talent with patience rather than pressure.

In a last-minute change, the second Test match against the West Indies will now be held in Visakhapatnam instead of Dharamsala. The BCCI cited logistical reasons for the switch.

The series will kick off with the first Test in Ahmedabad, followed by the second in Vizag. Both matches are part of India’s roadmap for the next World Test Championship cycle, and the team is expected to use these games to test combinations and give opportunities to emerging players.

What This Means for Fans

- Expect to see Nitish Reddy get more chances with both bat and ball.

- Sai Sudharsan remains in the mix, with full backing from the team.

- If you’re planning to attend the second Test, make sure to head to Visakhapatnam instead of Dharamsala!
