India vs South Africa: India were fined 10% of their match fee for a slow over-rate in the second ODI against South Africa in Raipur. Under Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct, players lose 5% of their match fee for each over their team fails to bowl in time.
India’s players have been fined 10 per cent of their match fee for bowling their overs too slowly in the second ODI against South Africa in Raipur on December 3. In that match, South Africa chased down 359 runs to level the series 1-1, before India later won the decider in Visakhapatnam.
The team was found to be two overs short of the required number after time allowances were considered. Match referee Richie Richardson from the ICC Elite Panel imposed the fine.
According to ICC rules, players are fined five per cent of their match fee for every over their side fails to bowl in time. Since India was two overs short, the fine came to 10 per cent. Captain KL Rahul accepted the charge and the penalty, so no formal hearing was needed.
The charge was brought forward by the match officials: on-field umpires Rod Tucker and Rohan Pandit, third umpire Sam Nogajski, and fourth umpire Jayaraman Madanagopal.
