India penalized for taking too long to bowl overs against Australia

Women's ODI World Cup 2025: India have been fined five per cent of their match fee for maintaining a slow over-rate against Australia in their ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup league match in Visakhapatnam on Sunday.

India’s women’s team has been fined for not bowling their overs fast enough during their World Cup match against Australia on October 12 in Visakhapatnam. Harmanpreet Kaur’s side fell one over short of the required rate while trying to defend a total of 330. Australia chased it down with three wickets in hand and six balls to spare.

There was no formal hearing, as Harmanpreet accepted the charge and the penalty. As per ICC rules, teams are fined 5% of their match fees for each over they fall short. In this case, India lost 5% of their fees.

India currently sits fourth on the points table. They started strong with two wins but have now lost back-to-back games against South Africa and Australia. Their next match is against England in Indore this Sunday.
