India beats Australia in just two days in Mackay to win the Under-19 four-day series
India U19 vs Australia U19: India U19 defeated Australia U19 by seven wickets in the second Youth Test. India's Henil Patel picked up 6 wickets in a match.
Both fast bowlers and spinners dominated the second four-day match between Australia Under-19s and India Under-19s in Mackay, which ended in just two days with India winning easily.
Australia’s batters didn’t perform well in the first match in Brisbane either, scoring 243 and 127 and losing by an innings and 58 runs, though a few players did show some fight. In Mackay, however, there was no such resistance. Only wicketkeeper Alex Lee Young stood out with the bat, while the rest of the batting lineup struggled.
Alex Lee Young was the only Australian batter to score a half-century in the match, making 66 in the first innings as Australia posted just 135. Their second innings was even worse, collapsing for 116. India, with a handy 36-run lead from the first innings, needed only 81 to win and did so comfortably, losing just three wickets.
The second day began with India at 144 for 7. Henil Patel was dismissed early, giving Kasey Barton his fourth wicket. Deepesh Devendran added 22 runs to his overnight score, helping India reach 171. For Australia, Barton took four wickets, while Charles Lachmund, Will Byrom, and Julian Osbourne grabbed two each.
Australia’s second innings started poorly, losing three wickets for just nine runs. Henil Patel took two early wickets and Udhav Mohan one. The only notable partnership was a 32-run stand between Jayden Draper (15) and Young (top-scoring again with 38). Australia lasted just 40.1 overs, with Henil and Naman Pushpak taking three wickets each and Mohan two. Only four batters reached double figures.
India’s chase wasn’t big, but the bowlers still had to stay sharp. Vaibhav Suryavanshi fell for a first-ball duck, and captain Ayush Mhatre was bowled for 13. Vihaan Malhotra and Vedant Trivedi then put together a quick 39-run stand. Malhotra made 21 before falling, but Trivedi (33) and Rahul Kumar (13) finished the job in just 12.2 overs, sealing a 2-0 series win. India had also won the earlier one-day series 3-0.
Kasey Barton stood out for Australia with six wickets. For India, Henil Patel (six wickets) and Udhav Mohan (four) led the pace attack, while spinners Khilan Patel and Naman Pushpak shared seven wickets between them, each taking three in an innings.
