Asia Cup Rising Stars: India A enters semis with Dubey, Suyash’s help
Oman vs India A: Harsh Dubey's fifty helped India A clinch the win in 17.5 overs. India A will play their semi-final on Friday.
It was a do-or-die match for both India A and Oman in the Asia Cup Rising Stars 2025. Only one team could grab the last semi-final spot from Group B. Oman batted first in Doha and made a quick start, scoring 52 runs in the powerplay. But they slowed down after that, adding just 83 runs in the next 14 overs, finishing with 135/6.
India A chased the target with ease, thanks to a calm and composed knock from Harsh Dubey, who was promoted to bat at No. 4. He scored his first-ever T20 fifty, staying unbeaten on 53 off 44 balls. Though he started slowly just 8 runs off his first 14 balls he picked up pace and smashed 45 runs in his next 30 balls. His only six came off a pull shot, but it was his clever use of the sweep that stood out.
Dubey built a solid 66-run partnership with Nehal Wadhera for the fourth wicket. Wadhera got out just before the win was sealed, but the job was already done. India A chased down the target comfortably.
The win wouldn’t have been so easy if Dubey and Suyash Sharma hadn’t done the damage with the ball earlier. Dubey took 1 for 30, while Suyash was brilliant with 2 for 12. Their four overs after the powerplay gave away just 19 runs on a pitch that helped spinners.
Oman’s captain Hammad Mirza gave them a flying start with 32 off 16 balls, but no one else could keep the momentum going. Wasim Ali stayed unbeaten on 54 off 45, holding one end, while part-time spinner Naman Dhir chipped in with 1 for 5 in 2 overs.
With this win, India A finish second in Group B and will now face the Group A toppers in the semi-final
