Former India captain and coach Rahul Dravid termed cricket's inclusion at the 2028 Olympics. It is truly remarkable.
Rahul Dravid praised cricket's inclusion in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, calling it phenomenal. Speaking at an exclusive panel discussion titled ‘Cricket at the Olympics - Dawn of a New Era’ at the first India House at the Paris Olympics, Dravid shared his excitement. He recalled his childhood memories of watching the Olympics on TV, especially Carl Lewis winning, and how it inspired him.
He also added that being a part of a major event is the dream of every sportsman. While cricket has its great events, they are usually standalone. Being in an environment with such energy and vibe is a dream come true for any athlete.
In the panel, the CEO of Dream Sports Geoff Allardice, and Harsh Jain, are also part of panel features at the International Cricket Council (ICC). In the discussion, Allardice brings out his vision about the growth of the game and he talks about the “The USA’s performance at the T20 World Cup got people talking about cricket, even those who didn’t know much about the sport. This was a significant statement ahead of the 2028 Olympics. Having a competitive cricket team four years before hosting the Olympics is a great step forward for the USA”.
